The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum that mops robot vacuum will vacuum and mop your floors without having to be involved. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.

Be sure to check your robot's brushes for tangled hair as well as large debris and clean them as required. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and automatic vacuum and mop robot combo utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The auto vacuum and mop cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum best vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuum with mop vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
