WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade items also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show a preview of an item upgrades's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade items costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain the latest recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader kit upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require various methods which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even if they belong to another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests based on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item level upgrade (images.google.td writes) like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one usage therefore it's essential to use them properly. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
