WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that are used to level up weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of button, which displays a preview of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item upgrading is upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will be less expensive, even when they belong to another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an Item Level Upgrade that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrades upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
