Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin

Its clever frame expands widthways to take an additional seat and can be used it as a twin from birth, thanks to the addition of two infant cocoons (PS59 each) which provide enclosed, lie-flat areas for babies. The large basket of shopping behind the seat lets it be used in mono mode with just one child. It also has front and rear suspensions to take on bumps and uneven surfaces more easily. Tandem

If you're planning to have twins, you want a tandem running pushchair that allows the children to sit side by side and be able to see each other. They are great for trips to the zoo, as children can watch the animals together. They are also great for parents who have to keep an eye on their toddler and the other on their baby because they can see both at the same time.

Some tandem pushchairs offer extreme versatility as they can change back to single mode. This is particularly useful if you plan to have more than two children (or if your eldest child doesn't require an extra buggy). This will help you avoid having to store an empty buggy which can be costly.

The Cybex Venus, for example, can be used either in mono or double mode. The frame can be expanded to accommodate an additional seat. It's not the lightest of pushchairs, but it does come with a large shopping basket that sits behind the front seat in double mode (and at the back of the seat in mono mode). The seats can be set up in a way that they face each the other or higher to observe what each is doing.

Other double tandem pushchairs, like the Joolz Geo 3, are equipped to place one on top of the other or side-by-side. They are sleek and compact frame that makes it easier to maneuver through doors and aisles of supermarkets, and some models can be used as a jogging stroller or on rough terrain due to a four-wheel suspension and wide rear wheels.

A tandem pushchair could also be used to transport two carrycots, or a car and buggy seat. This allows you to create an entire travel system from the outset and save money on additional purchases. It's worth remembering, however, that tandems are heavier and longer than single pushchairs and can feel less stable bumping up kerbs or going over uneven surfaces. These pushchairs also need to be dismantled to fit in cars.
