The best robotic mop and vacuum Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum will sweep and vacuum your floors without your involvement. It will also leave the floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are positives.

Be sure to regularly check your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large particles, and wash them when needed. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum that mops vacuum for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum cleaners uk we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it's more expensive and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you have a number of furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot hoover and mop vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
