The Best Robot Hoover

The best robotic mop and vacuum robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaners reviews that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or automatic vacuum cleaner and mop that has 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost this is a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas are.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Also the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning robot mop and vacuum or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
