It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and an automatic vacuum cleaner bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuums uk vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.
