Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep your floors clean enough to decrease the frequency of manual hoovering. Choose a robot vacuum with good navigation, can clean stairs and corners and has large bins that will need to be emptied periodically.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the best robot vacuum when it is full.

Both robots are good at picking up surface dirt on carpets and hard floors, and they can easily navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other Top rated Robot vacuum-rated robots we test. It can be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filters free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station, automatically emptying its trash into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes about three hours to fully recharge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot through the app or voice.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and to move around the room and vacuum an area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households and can fit in well next to the table for a coffee or the bookshelf, where you can move it around like the magic device.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system is able to trap allergens and then lets cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It swiftly switches from handheld to floor remote vacuum, and then back to floor.

This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments and the handheld. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests have shown, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average and not a remarkable run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's enough time to clean the average-sized home but not enough to reach every area. (A second pass generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums robot, the 694 is a basic model that's a great choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most types of debris and sizes during our testing, and it often passes over the same areas multiple times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top choices and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often runs out of battery power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.

The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of reasons, since it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more durable and has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a greater variety of automation features.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested and this could be a deal breaker for some buyers.

The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's collecting dirt that is on the surface or embedded. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows users to see an interactive map, control functions, and create schedules. You can also check the vacuum's status and send it to its dock for charging at the click of a button. The app allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum using different colors so you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's gotten stuck.

The app makes it possible to manually steer the robot in the event of need. For example my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL, however, continued to move across the border without ever registering the high point. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
