World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

The item upgrade allows players to boost the gear rating of an item up to 700 points and give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For instance, a perfectly broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't change much after an upgrade, and aren't worth the cost.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats, such as damage to attack, crit chance as well as PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons have a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Some weapons also come with a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a single unit. This bonus may be greater than the damage that a weapon upgrade alone can do.

The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. For items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example), upgrading them may make them unusable unless you get a fortunate roll.

Items of armor can also be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. In the case of chests or helms, it will boost its base defense while a belt and gloves will increase their strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it may reduce its value.

The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain upon upgrading in addition to their respective values. This means that an upgrade from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in the weapon gaining 33% attack damage. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.

A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button with arrows that circle in the item Upgrader mod menu. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats however, it will not reset the weapon's levels or bind to account status.

Armor

Making a few improvements to your armor can make a a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, making it easier to navigate through tough terrain. Generally speaking, the more defense your character is, the more value you get from every point of health you have and it's crucial to improve your armor as much as you can.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and to unlock each fountain, you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the main quest and the associated fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. In general, you're looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which will allow you to keep up in frigid environments with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you're able to survive a battle with your friends.

You can't upgrade your armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical strength or the power of spells. To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI that allows you to select the potions that you want to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll provide when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time, and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.

Once a potion has been upgraded, it won't degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it is stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change its name.

There were some changes to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. Splash potions, for example have now a duration of that is 0:08 instead of 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the item level upgrade hover display.
