World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all its leveled up advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader you choose and what kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item.

Item level is a popular measure of power, and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It also serves as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to a lower level). Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the item level. It's an excellent indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it will be capable of causing. The level of the item can be used to compare items when looking at the inventory of a seller.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are several theories about how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different values and that sockets have gems that increase the item's overall value. This could result in a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

This isn't the only factor that influences the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also alter its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stats of a base weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modification, which are themselves enhanced by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to give items additional damage or other special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by putting a name on them.

Currently, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by the arrows that circle. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item Upgrader kit are based on the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it is an item that is unique or a God roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-Best item upgrade basis and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their gear in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in early game runs than in later ones, since most players prefer greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that deals damage by five percent. These items can be found in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limits to the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrader kit upgrades is also influenced by the luck of that item. Every item has a success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.

The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
