Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Typically objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases like eth titans aren't affected in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute benefit, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests or missions. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they are upgraded.

In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to select it, and then click the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats as well as the required component or materials.

There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be put in any type of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix at the end of item names. For instance adding a Glyph could transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph by another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in some important ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of those items, rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

This will allow the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it will reset to zero in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it is able to get an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available depends on the item's base. For example an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will have no more than two affixes to choose from, while legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade process requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level and in what slot it is in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item doesn't attain its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials but will result in a lower chance of success.

To determine the height of a structure, engineers will utilize an instrument to compare the measurement against an established reference point like a benchmark, or the ground's elevation. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and the level before turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that structures are built to the highest degree of precision and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of altering the upgrade components of an item upgrader kit. It is a very important aspect of the game, and it can increase the strength, damage or other characteristics. It is possible to do this through the item level upgrade menu, or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you Upgrade Item an item upgrader kit. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be used sparingly.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.

Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes that made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats for your build more often than others. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns, and the control impaired duration stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This could be a positive or a bad thing, depending on your needs and requirements from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may be equipped with a special bonus that boosts the power of the item by a specific percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the normal affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the higher the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also features several sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on an item. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a character without spending lots of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character, allowing them to reach high tiers and progress the game more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in different ways. They can be of various sizes, have no elements at all, or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They are also useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including size and shape.

There are a range of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Armor sets with high defense values or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have many armor pieces or weapons.

Some set items are upgraded to meet their own special functions which can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded to Extraordinary Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).

Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items up to parity with the different tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrading lower-level set items can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the required items to upgrade it. It will show the Best item upgrade's characteristics, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the upgrade requirements of specific items.

In general, weapons and armor have higher value when fully updated. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will give a substantial increase in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will also benefit from this, since its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
