World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will be able to gain 3% of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be inserted. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade items, which alters the name of the item it's applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment with the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of an item upgrader mod will be dropped in the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know how much it will be improved following a reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be costly and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Glyphs

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is best to put Glyphs in the most important spots on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For instance, a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, but also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes as well.

Leveling

The item upgrading system lets players increase the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each level of an item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When an individual player upgrades an item it is replaced by the new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This can be a downside since the item may increase in price even if you do not require it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, however it's not something that should be done regularly, as it can waste a lot of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times, increasing their value and allowing the player to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants buffs when the player repeatedly enters or exits water. This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the max roll by an increment of 10. Requirements

The failure rate increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting back to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.

If an item fails to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained, such as the chance to crit, attack damage, or additional effects (such as increased heal over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in its crit chance the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is computed every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a typical equipment item might have 5 upgrades at a cost of 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items have lower costs per upgrade.
